say hi :
I have a second set of napkins for one lucky reader…
just say hi in the comment section and I’ll randomly draw a winner on Thursday next week…
(you can also enter by emailing “hi” to blogfru.t@gmail.com)
plastic container included.
room 9
we are very sad to say good bye to Ms. D. and our friends in room 9,
and after much thought, we decided that a stack of mismatched napkins for her kitchen/or classroom would be perfect (we use ours every meal and have almost eliminated the need for paper towels)
and because she has a wee one too we added some organic cotton towels.

crêpes
This was my favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner growing up…
my Mom would flip them off her Sunbeam crêpe maker (one of the many custom gadgets we had in our kitchen) and I would fill them with as much whip-cream as I could get away with.
This weekend we bought a crêpe maker…
and today we had a crêpe party!
made even better with some crème fraîche from The Cowgirl...
cotton jersey dress 2
The fabric here was $5.00/yd from Fabric Outlet, the drape is not as nice but the price is much better.
cotton jersey dress
This fabric was a splurge at $22.00/yd. The sales lady at Britex convinced me it was worth it.
…and I have to agree (it is super soft)
(those are chalk marks, not stains)
this weekend...
we crossed the GGB and headed over to Point Reyes,
and before heading home we stopped at The Cowgirl Creamery,
to taste some delicious cheeses…
and today, according to M, I made the best Mac n’ Cheese ever!
repurposed shirt
This morning I had an old top from H&M and a little girl that needed a new leotard for gymnastics…
I took a short break from sewing to drive M to gymnastics class (no, I didn’t finish in time)… and S to swimming class…
but by the end of the day we had a leotard.
(I hope to make some swimsuits too this year)
v2
the purple knit that I used for this skirt was a little thick for this pattern…
especially with an elastic waistband…
(I could always add a few darts and a zipper)
(but I’m pretty sure that is not going to happen)
both M and I have decided that purple with red gingham is an awesome combination…
but v1 is the winner here….
new pattern :
hopefully I’ll have time to try again tomorrow…

hope you’re having a nice weekend too !

eggs again,
sitting pretty as we start to boil the spinach, red zinger tea and turmeric,
hours and two disappointed children later (and a little blue food coloring), we started.
S had already lost interest…
M was still around to mix the colors into a beautiful brown…
then more waiting…. below we used crayons to draw on the eggs before dipping them,
M and I decided to try more...

tuesday:
S has been wearing his shirts backward for half a year now….. I stopped correcting him months ago.
M grows more and more reckless everyday. It’s both lovely and frightening to watch.
blackout fabric :
I’ve mentioned before my love for blackout fabric and the extra minutes of sleep it affords me. Today I finally put some curtains up in our bedroom.
After spending over a year waiting for the perfect fabric for these curtains, I finally gave up and bought a grey pair at Ikea. Today I ripped them apart, put in a layer of blackout fabric and restitched them.

S decided to be Darth Vader again so I had a little extra time to spend on M’s Jewel costume,
and this blue Macaw does not softly tweet- she loudly caws.
I hope you had a sweet Halloween too !
